Jessica McCormack

For me, making jewellery is about creating miniature sculptures. Each piece is the end result of my desire to turn what I perceive to be beautiful into a tiny piece of art. I would like people to re-evaluate their perception of fine jewellery and precious stones, breaking down barriers on how diamonds are considered, worn and used, with emphasis on luxury being about personal experience, appreciation and knowledge.

Jessica McCormack is interested in jewellery that people covet, desire, wear, love and use. She creates diamond pieces that can be worn with anything from jeans to couture. Jessica is aware that in this day and age the concept of luxury is changing. That today it is less about worth and more about values; less about exclusivity and more about experience. It is about buying less but better. This is why Jessica encourages that we stand against disposable culture and invest in future heirlooms that will be passed down to the next generation and loved forever.

Jessica's collector's possession obsession began during her childhood in New Zealand, spent in her father's auction house surrounded by antiques. Travelling around Europe and Asia in her twenties and her time in the Jewellery Department at Sotheby's London, have all had a distinct influence on her style and designs. Art, music, books, poems, conversations, dreams, fashion, science fiction, architecture, people, shadows all constantly inspire Jessica; things that speak directly to the soul. Jessica is self-taught in design and so her methodology is often unorthodox but she retains the balance between design and diamonds.

Every piece has a story, giving added depth and meaning. For instance, the Wing of Desire, which was the first jewel that Jessica ever designed, was inspired by the winged hat and sandals worn by Hermes, who according to Greek mythology delivered the dreams from the mortals to the Gods.

For every visitor to the Salon, where Jessica houses her covetable objects of desire and every admirer of Jessica's designs, the lasting sentiment is that of surprise and delight. Walking along the cobbled streets of Clerkenwell and through the door of the Salon is a unique experience that allows our ambassadors to immerse themselves in a world of inspirations, where the modern and old are juxtaposed against each other.

Driven by quality, each piece of Jessica McCormack Jewellery is hand made in London and the diamonds are sourced through ethical means.
