Toi et Moi
They say French is the language of love, and we can all agree that ‘toi et moi’ has a more romantic ring to it than ‘you and me’. And it’s the French who popularised toi et moi rings, after Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Joséphine de Beauharnais in 1796 with a ring featuring a pear-cut diamond and a pear-cut sapphire set side-by-side on a gold band. The Bonapartes’ famed love story inspired a trend for two-stone rings among 18th-century aristocracy; two diamonds were said to represent two souls, while the pairing of a diamond and a ruby symbolised love and passion.
We find gemstones that, like the best couples, are an unlikely match on paper - but work perfectly IRL. Take the 5.24-carat emerald-cut diamond which nuzzles up against a 2.03-carat heart-shaped diamond, both set in our signature Georgian cut-down setting. A jawdropping modern heirloom, this one-of-a-kind ring is worthy of an Empress. After all, why settle for one diamond when you can have two?
