Buoys and ropes, sailors’ tattoos and starfish, our new collection Hello Sailor is an ode to all things nautical, be it 19th Century French naval uniforms or the complicated art of maritime knots.

Taking inspiration from one of her earliest collections, Jessica has taken the familiar swallow - a common sailor’s tattoo signifying 5000 nautical miles travelled – pave-set it in diamonds and suspended it from heart-shaped sapphires as the newest addition to the Gypset family of earrings. Elsewhere, that same motif is enamelled in deep blue into engraved pearls – a technique that is used throughout the collection.

Flotsam & Jetsam Necklace

An eclectic ode to Jessica McCormack’s affinity with the ocean, the Flotsam & Jetsam necklace features a bounty of JMC treasure.

At the highest end of the collection is the Flotsam and Jetsam necklace, a one-of-a-kind Oh Buoy necklace in yellow gold suspending eleven ocean-inspired precious pendants, including a gold anchor, a moonstone and diamond-set starfish, engraved and enamelled pearls and a vibrant piece of sustainably sourced Sardinian coral. “I imagined a net pulling up a precious catch, and threw the whole lot together in one piece,” Jessica says.

Bold gold chains make up the necklaces of the collection, the Oh, Buoy style interspersing chunky round gold links with smaller rope-textured links in two lengths, while the Rope Me In necklaces are finer, and mix diamond-set links between twisted-rope ones.

“I grew up sailing,” - says Jessica, whose late father was a keen amateur yacht racer in her home country of New Zealand. “It was all salt spray and being shouted at’.

Large, cultured freshwater pearls have been rigorously engraved with stripes or tattoo-inspired patterns, before the recess is hand-filled in glossy navy enamel to create a uniform finish. Mixed with diamonds and sapphires in the house’s iconic Georgian inspired cut-down setting, or suspended from gold rope hoops, the decorated pearls bring a fresh, preppy energy to the collection, which takes the idea of day diamonds and sends them out to sea.
